Q: What is the Passware Software Maintenance and Support (SMS) Policy?
All Passware Kit Business and Passware Kit Forensic orders come with a one-year Software Maintenance and Support (SMS) subscription. New features are being added to Passware Kit on a regular basis with four major releases and multiple minor updates per year. This release cycle has been strictly followed for over 10 years.
You will receive a Passware account login along with the software download link and a product key.
Your Software Maintenance & Support (SMS) subscription lets you access new versions of the software when released and receive technical support.
After the SMS expires, you will no longer receive software updates and bug fixes; however, the software will continue to run.
You can check the expiration date of the subscription from your account at:
https://www.passware.com/account/
If a renewal of a SMS subscription is purchased after its expiration date, the subscription is renewed for 1 or 3 years starting from the expiration date, not from the purchase date.
Q: My Passware subscription expired. What are my renewal options?
You can renew your existing subscription for Passware Kit directly from your Passware account. There are two options to choose from - 1-year renewal or 3-year renewal.
If a renewal of a SMS subscription is purchased after its expiration date, the subscription is renewed for 1 or 3 years starting from the expiration date, not from the purchase date.

Q: How do I download the latest version of Passware Kit?
If your SMS is still active, you can log in to your Passware account using your personal credentials and download Passware Kit or Passware Agent.
If your SMS has already expired, you can use the Lost License form to retrieve the download link and product key for the latest version of Passware Kit that was released before your subscription expired.
If you do not know the email address used at the time of purchase, please contact our Customer Support Team with your current Product Key and order information.
Q: I have updated Passware Kit Business/Forensic, but the Product Key is incorrect. I have an active subscription. What is wrong?
At the end of each year, Passware releases a major update to Passware Kit (version 2022.x->2023.x->2024.x), which requires a new product key.
If you have an active SMS and receive the “Invalid Product Key” error, please log in to your Passware account, go to “Download & Product Keys”, and claim a new key.
Enter this product key into the License Manager.
Q: Passware Kit Agents: licensing and subscription, how to update Passware Kit Agents
Passware Kit Agent is available for free download. You can download and install as many Agents as needed, but Passware Kit has a limitation on the number of Agents that can be used depending on the Passware Kit edition.
You can increase the number of Passware Kit Agents supported by Passware Kit Forensic at any time by purchasing a license for additional agents.
The Passware Kit Agent pack comes with a one-year Software Maintenance and Support (SMS) subscription.
Both Windows and Linux versions of Passware Kit Agent can be downloaded from your Passware Account.
Q: I purchased the software, but have not received the email with a download link or Product Key
The email with the download links and Product Key is usually sent by our sales partner, cleverbridge several minutes after the purchase. If after 30 minutes, you have not received the email, and have checked the Spam/Junk folder please contact cleverbridge directly at cs@cleverbridge.com with the order information

Q: How can I change the email address/password for my Passware account
Please login to your Passware Account and click the cogwheel icon in the top right corner and select “Change password”.
If you cannot remember your password, you can reset it on the login page.
Once you click “Reset my password” as shown above, you should receive an email at the email address registered with the subscription. Please be sure to check your Spam/Junk folder if you don’t see an email from us.
You can also change the email for the subscription: please click the cogwheel icon in the top right corner and select “Change email”.
For security reasons, you will be prompted for your password.

A single Passware Kit Forensic License comes with one year of Software Maintenance and Support (SMS) subscription and supports 5 Passware Kit Agents.

Q: How do I verify my Passware download?
Due to company security policies, the downloaded files might require additional verification. Passware Account portal (available for PKU, PKF, PKB, and PKM customers) now displays SHA-512 hashes for all installation files, ensuring the integrity of the downloads.
Click the “Show SHA-512 fingerprint” icon next to the download button to verify the file checksum.
