The 2025 release focuses on full disk encryption and performance improvements.
Passware Kit 2025 v1 decrypts the latest versions of VeraCrypt, and it adds support for WD My Book, WD My Passport 2024, and Lenovo ThinkPad E series devices.
Performance optimizations cover BitLocker keys extraction from memory images, Rainbow Tables attacks for Windows hashes, and Mac EFI password recovery, delivering faster results across these features.
Additionally, Passware Kit 2025 v1 introduces support for new file types, including MySQL SHA-1 hashes and Hancom Office files from version 2014 and higher.
To wrap up the release, we have expanded our proprietary Large Dictionary by adding 18 billion new passwords sourced from the latest breaches and our Password Exchange feature.
For your convenience, we have included a video of all the latest features of Passware Kit 2025 v1. Take a look!
Decryption of the latest VeraCrypt version using memory analysis
Passware Kit 2025 v1 adds support for the latest versions of VeraCrypt – up to 1.26.15, both Windows and Linux versions. Such containers can now be decrypted in a predictable timeframe using the Memory Analysis attack, in addition to brute-force password recovery. The following types of volumes are supported: containers and system, non-system, and hidden (Windows only) partitions.
Password recovery for WD My Book and My Passport 2024 drives
Passware Kit now decrypts a broader range of hardware devices. The new release adds support for Western Digital My Book 2021–2024 4TB and 6TB and My Passport 2024 drives.
Decryption of BitLocker-encrypted Lenovo ThinkPads E series
For BitLocker-encrypted Lenovo ThinkPads with TPM 2.0, Passware Kit acquires and displays the Volume Master Key, allowing users to decrypt the volume and retrieve the Recovery key. Version 2025 v1 adds support for the E series of the ThinkPads.
Faster recovery of Mac EFI password on GPU
The GPU acceleration option for Mac EFI password recovery is now up to 30% more efficient. With an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, it achieves recovery speeds of up to 12,000 passwords per second for EFI firmware on Macs with a T2 chip.
Password recovery for MySQL SHA-1 hashes
Passware Kit 2025 v1 allows users to recover MySQL passwords from MySQL SHA-1 hash files. The recovery speed is over 63 million passwords per second on an AMD Ryzen 9 CPU. Rainbow Tables attack is also supported.
Faster recovery of Windows user passwords with Rainbow Tables
Passware Kit now supports multi-threaded processing of rainbow tables for Windows hashes, leveraging all available CPU cores, maximum RAM, and the speed of SSDs. This optimization reduces attack duration by up to 35 times, enabling the processing of 4 TB of NTLM tables in under 3.5 hours.
Passware Rainbow Tables attack supports password recovery for NTLM, LM, MD5, and SHA-1 hashes using third-party tables. The ready-to-use set of rainbow tables for Windows NTLM hashes is available as a separate product: Passware Rainbow Tables for Windows.
Faster recovery of BitLocker keys and Mac user passwords from memory images
The process of scanning memory images to extract passwords and encryption keys has been significantly improved. Passware Kit can now analyze memory images and identify BitLocker VMKs or Mac user passwords in a matter of seconds, achieving a remarkable speedup of up to 68 times compared with the previous version.
Password recovery for newer versions of Hancom Office
Passware Kit now recovers passwords for the latest versions of Hancom Office Suite – 2014–2024, including Hanword, Hancell, and Hanshow files. GPU acceleration is also supported.
3x larger Passware Dictionary
We have expanded our proprietary Large Dictionary by adding 18 billion new passwords sourced from leaked password lists and our Password Exchange feature. The updated dictionary (50 GB) is already available for download from the Passware Account portal.
Usability improvements
Each release traditionally includes features designed to enhance the usability of our software. In this update, we have added a streamlined display of multiple password hints and improved the logging system.
