Q: What is the Passware Software Maintenance and Support and renewal policy?
Passware Kit Business and Forensic orders come with a one-year Software Maintenance and Support (SMS) subscription.
After the SMS expires, you will no longer receive software updates and bug fixes. However, the software will continue to run.
Passware Kit Ultimate and Mobile are annual termed licenses. Free updates are available within the license validity period. Upon license expiration, a new license is required to continue using the software and receiving updates.
New features are being added to Passware Kit on a regular basis with four major releases and multiple minor updates per year. This release cycle has been strictly followed for over 15 years.
You will receive a Passware account login along with the software download link and a product key.
Your SMS subscription or active annual license gives you access to new versions of the software when released and allows you to receive technical support.
You can check the expiration date in the Passware account:
If a renewal of an SMS subscription is purchased after its expiration date, the subscription is renewed for one or three years starting from the expiration date, not from the purchase date.
Q: My Passware Kit Forensic/Business SMS expired. What are my renewal options?
You can renew your existing subscription for Passware Kit or request a renewal quote directly from the Passware account. There are two renewal options: a one-year or a three-year.
If an expired subscription is renewed, the new expiry date is calculated from the previous expiration date.

Q: How do I download the latest version of Passware Kit?
If your SMS or license is still active, you can log in to the Passware account and download the latest versions of Passware Kit and Passware Agent.
If you do not know the email address used at the time of purchase, please contact Support with your current Product Key and order information.
Q: I have updated Passware Kit Business/Forensic/Ultimate, but the Product Key is incorrect. I have an active subscription/license. What is wrong?
At the end of each year, Passware releases a major update to Passware Kit (version 2024.x -> 2025.x -> 2026.x), which requires a new product key.
If you have an active SMS or license and receive the “Invalid Product Key” error, please log in to your Passware account and select Download & Product Keys, where you can claim a new key.
Enter this product key into the Tools | License Manager in Passware Kit.
NOTE: In case of Product Key change within an active license cycle, make sure to deactivate the computers with the old Product Key in order to be able to activate a new Key. Review our Passware Kit Activation Guide.

Q: How do I update the Passware Kit Agent?
Passware Kit Agent is available for free download. You can download and install as many Agents as needed, but Passware Kit has a limitation on the number of Agents that can be used depending on the Passware Kit edition. For example, Passware Kit Forensic allows for up to 5 Agents to be connected to the Server for free.
You can increase the number of Passware Kit Agents supported by Passware Kit Business, Forensic or Ultimate at any time by purchasing a license for additional agents.
The Passware Kit Agent pack comes with a one-year SMS subscription.
Both Windows and Linux versions of Passware Kit Agent can be downloaded from your Passware Account.
Q: I purchased the software, but have not received the email with a download link or Product Key. What should I do?
The email with the download links and Product Key is delivered by our e-commerce partner cleverbridge.
After purchase, the email can take several minutes to arrive. If you have not received the email, please first check the Spam/Junk folder. Otherwise, contact cleverbridge directly at cs@cleverbridge.com with the order information.
Passware Kit Ultimate and Mobile orders require manual review. Additional time and information may be needed to process your order.

Q: How can I change the email address/password for my Passware account?
To change your password, please log in to your Passware Account, click on the cogwheel icon in the top right corner, and select Change password.
NOTE: Passware Account is available for Passware Kit Ultimate, Forensic, Business and Mobile editions only.
If you cannot remember your password, reset it on the login page.
Enter your email address and click Reset my password. You should receive an email at the email address registered with the subscription. If you do not receive an email, please check your Spam/Junk folder.
If you still haven't received an email, please contact Support with your license details.
NOTE: Passware Account is not a feature of Home & Small Office products. Passware Account is only available to users of Passware Kit Ultimate, Forensic, Business, and Mobile editions.
Please note that you can change the email registered with your subscription by clicking on the cogwheel icon in the top right corner and selecting Change email.

A single Passware Kit Forensic License comes with a one-year SMS subscription and supports five Passware Kit Agents.
Passware Kit Forensic – Lab Edition is a decryption solution for a forensic lab. It includes the following:
- One Passware Kit Forensic License
- 100 Passware Kit Agents
- A three-year SMS subscription for Passware Kit and Agents.

Q: How do I verify my Passware download?
Due to company security policies, the downloaded files might require additional verification. Passware Account portal (available for PKU, PKF, PKB, and PKM customers) now displays SHA-512 hashes for all installation files as well as dictionaries, ensuring the integrity of the downloads.
Click the Show SHA-512 fingerprint icon next to the download button to verify the file checksum.
