Q: What if I do not know the iOS device password length?
You don’t need to specify the passcode length in Passware Kit Mobile settings. The software extracts information about the passcode pattern and assigns the corresponding settings automatically.
Q: Why GPU acceleration is not used during Apple device recovery process?
Apple passcode recovery is performed on the iOS device directly and cannot be accelerated with the computer hardware. The CPU and GPU of the computer running Passware Kit Mobile do not affect the speed of the passcode recovery for Apple devices. The recovery speed varies from dozens of passwords per minute to dozens of passwords per hour. It depends on the iOS version, Apple processor, and some other factors.
Q: Does Passware Kit Mobile support 'Disabled. Connect to iTunes' devices locked due to multiple password attempts?
Yes, Passware Kit Mobile supports devices running iOS prior to 12.1 in the "Disabled, Connect to iTunes" state. The software extracts the encrypted user data from the device and starts the recovery process. The time-lock does not affect the passcode recovery, extraction, and decryption processes.
If the device is not supported, the message “The device is disabled and can only be recovered using iTunes" appears, which means that the data required for the recovery is erased from the device, and further analysis is impossible.
Q: Data from what mobile applications can be extracted?
Besides passcode recovery, Passware Kit Mobile detects installed applications and performs instant decryption if possible or starts the recovery process. Below is the list of applications supported for data extraction.

Q: How can I verify the iOS version of the locked device?
We plan to add the automatic detection of the iOS version to Passware Kit Mobile. In the meantime, follow the steps below:
1. Download iRecovery;
2. Enter the Recovery Mode on the target iOS device;
3. Execute the following command:
irecovery -s
4. In the console, execute the following command:
getenv build-version
5. The iBoot version is displayed;
6. Check out the iOS version based on the iBoot version at:
